Why AVBG Free excludes patient identity
A name, MRN, bed, hospital and physician do not change the blood-gas calculation. AVBG Free is intended for immediate interpretation, teaching and anonymous single-case use, so it accepts the clinical variables the engine needs while excluding administrative identity. This reduces unnecessary privacy exposure and prevents a quick calculator from quietly becoming an unmanaged patient-record system.
This is an intentional product boundary, not a limitation in clinical quality. The same interpretation engine is used in AVBG Professional; the paid edition adds accountable workflow and documentation.
No patient-identifying fields
AVBG Free has no name field, no medical record number (MRN) field, no bed/location field, no physician field, no hospital field, and no "printed by" field. These fields do not exist anywhere in the application — they were removed, not merely hidden.
No persistent patient records
AVBG Free does not save, list, search, or export patient records between sessions. There is no patient database. Closing the tab or reloading the page clears everything you entered.
Clinical variables used for calculation only
Fields such as age, age unit, sex, height, weight, blood-gas values, ventilation parameters, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and clinical-context checkboxes are used only to compute the interpretation displayed on screen. They are not patient identifiers. Clinical values entered into AVBG are processed locally in your browser and are not transmitted to ENKI Clinical or included in analytics.
Session-only comparison behavior
The "Capture Current as Sample A" / "Compare Current with Sample A" feature holds one snapshot in your browser's working memory (a JavaScript variable) for the current page session only. It is never written to browser storage, and it is cleared automatically when you reset the form or close the tab. The generated comparison report identifies the two entries only as "Sample A" and "Sample B" — no names, no timestamps beyond the report-generation time, and no location information.
Legacy-data purge behavior
If this browser previously had an older, paid/trial build of AVBG installed, AVBG Free runs a one-time-safe cleanup on every load that removes leftover keys from that earlier system — including old license, trial, OTP, and saved-patient data — and deletes an obsolete local database used by that earlier system. This runs automatically; no action is required from you.
What is stored locally
The only thing AVBG Free keeps in your browser between visits is your display preference (such as theme), and the offline cache used by the installable app (a copy of the application's own files, not your clinical data). No clinical values, no comparison samples, and no identifying information are stored locally between sessions.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregated site usage and performance — information such as country, device type, browser, page visited, and referrer. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies, does not use local storage, and does not track individuals across sites.
Clinical values entered into AVBG are processed locally and are not transmitted to ENKI Clinical or included in analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures aggregated website usage and performance without cookies or cross-site tracking — it has no access to the pH, PaCO₂, HCO₃⁻, or any other value you type into the calculator, and it does not identify or verify individual users.
How the Professional edition differs
AVBG Professional includes patient and facility fields because formal hospital reports and longitudinal case management require identity, timing and traceability. Its manually entered patient records are saved in the browser on the device where the user creates them; they are not uploaded to an ENKI Clinical patient database. Clearing that browser's site data removes those local records.
ENKI's access and licensing service handles account, trial and licence information separately from the clinical record. Optional OCR in AVBG Professional is also separate: when a user chooses to scan a blood-gas image, that image is sent to the AI provider configured for the OCR feature and is governed by that provider's terms. The Free edition contains no OCR or camera workflow.
Not stored, not analyzed elsewhere
AVBG Free does not use the camera or an external AI service to read blood-gas strips — that feature exists only in AVBG Professional, is optional there, and is not part of this Free edition at all.
